Guitar Fretboard Memorize The Fretboard In Less Than 24 Hours 35+ Tips And Exercises Included edition by Guitar Head Arts Photography eBooks Reviews

  • I've been a self-taught guitar player for 50 years. As such, my approach has been to learn the chords of a song and then play them. But my knowledge pretty much ended there, and I needed something to get me to the next level. I tried numerous online courses and videos, and while some were interesting, they all seemed to jump into picking exercises, CAGED shapes, and jumped all around the topic of guitar playing.

It seems there are two concepts that every guitar player needs to know if they want to progress with the instrument The fretboard and the root, third and fifth of every scale. This book is focused on the first concept only, and as such, does an admirable job. Too many instructors seem to pass quickly over knowledge of the fingerboard and the exercises needed to learn it. That's a shame. Being able to immediately find a note, means it's easy to transpose chords to fit.

I purchased many guitar books (a lot from !) that I read a bit and then put aside. This one I read from cover to cover, and am applying its exercises and mnemonics. This one has earned a place near my guitar!
  • I've been playing guitar by ear for a long time. Whenever I get together with my buddies to jam they throw around keys changes and I cannot keep up. I have so many books on guitar it's ridiculous. When I bought this book I thought it would be a stupid gimmick. I bought it to add to my collection of difficult to follow guitar instruction books. SURPRISE!!! It was easy to follow, it made sense, and with a bit of practice, I am able to name every note on the fretboard!! Kudos to the author! It's as if guitarhead wrote this book for me. The games and tricks are what did it for me.
  • I’ve been playing (picking on a) guitar for well over 40 years and never learned to read music or it’s theory. This has always been a stumbling block for me when trying to play with advanced performers. This book helped me quickly realize and understand patterns where so many others have left me scratching my head.
  • The memory aids were a big help to memorizing the Low E, high E, and the A string. Using the "L Rule" and the "Claw" to teach the G and the D strings, pure genius. My guitar teacher told me to pay attention to patterns but never explained what that meant. This book does exactly that!!! Chapter 8 is loaded with patterns if you know what to look for, and now I do thanks to this book. Simply the best guitar book I have purchased.
  • Memorization is a stretch. The book is based on relationships between strings and octaves. So after reading the book and doing the exercises, you’ll be able to derive any note on the fretboard, but not necessarily instantly know it.

Still gave the book 4 stars as I learned some interval relationships / patterns that I didn’t previously know. And understanding intervals / patterns between strings is still important for playing chords, melodies, and solos, so even if it doesn’t deliver on memorization, the material is still useful and definitely worth the price.
  • The content of this little book delivers on the promise of its title. Easy to follow and well thought through. Yes, there are typos and the grammar could be better. I wasn't looking for a text on grammar. One note the reverse L position is a 3-string jump, not 2.
  • I am 67 and learning the guitar. Found book to easy to follow with good pictures. Thanks
  • An introduction to the fretboard at a basic level. And though this book is thorough in what it does explain no-one will ever 'know' the fretboard in 24 hours and be capable of playing at any tempo at any position on the neck. I could no doubt memorize the piano keyboard but that wouldn't make me a pianist. You would be better prepared for what lies ahead if encouraged to get used to a routine of daily practice for the guitar is a lifetimes endeavor, especially if you aspire to play professionally, Segovia for instance practiced 8 hours a day even at 75. I expected more from this book than just note memorization and a brief reference to interval relationships. But the information is well presented for what it is so no doubt other books will address what this one didn't as the development of your playing skills and the application of this knowledge will have to come from elsewhere.

The Circle Maker Praying Circles Around Your Biggest Dreams and Greatest Fears Mark Batterson 0025986346911 Books Reviews

  • GREAT concept.... but after a couple of years of it sitting on my shelf, I finally picked up this book when a really hard season of life hit. Mark Batterson details out numerous stories of God answering circled prayers... which is great. But the reality of this broken world is that we don't always see circled prayers answered... at least not how we wanted.

PLEASE PLEASE read John Eldredge's "Moving Mountains" after you've read this. The Circle Maker (to me) was like a plate full of sweet cake, but it left me craving steak. Within 10 pages of reading "Moving Mountains", I was in tears. It's great to be encouraged by others' testimonies, but we also need to understand the deeper workings of prayer - AND how to handle our hearts when our prayers aren't answered the way we hoped.
  • I first read this book four years ago and it has helped shape my prayer life ever since. First, Batterson is great about emphasizing how God is not a genie and our wish is not His command, but rather it's about finding out and praying the will of God for my life. Great insight into many areas of life are found in this book. I have found myself reading this at the beginning of each year as a way to reset my focus and prayers, and also looking back on the ones God has answered! I highly recommend this and often buy extras to give to people.
  • This book is a new twist on the prosperity gospel at best. There is no Biblical foundation for his "new way of praying". There is no mention of circles in the Bible for prayer. It is more subtle. This author uses scripture out of context and stories out of context. The origin of chalk circles is well steeped in witchcraft and sorcery which Rodney Gypsy Smith knew very well. Circles drawn, often three clockwiseare patterns are used to conjure up spirits and demons. Honi was indeed a real man, revered by the same Jewish leaders who hated Jesus. He was hunted as a sorcerer and a practitioner of dark magik.
This book is not a book I would ever recommend and intertwines witchcraft with Biblical verses. I only read it as one of the Bible study groups decided to read this. Yes, they are aware of my thoughts on this book as a book for spiritual guidance. Remember how subtle the serpent was with Eve.
  • This book changed my prayers forever and my life. I've been praying to Jesus since I was 4. Lots to learn from this book but the one thing that still stays with me years later is simply this Think about who you are praying to Almighty God. This means all of those years of "please help" prayers were less than what God should be asked and those kinds of prayers diminish His Glory. The "circle" seems to have been Pastor Mark's signature from God, may not be the same for all of us. If we are watching closely we may see our own signature from God.

Almighty God should not be asked to "help" some situation, which to me does not give God His due respect. Almighty God should be asked to do thoroughly what we all know and believe God can do which is anything since He owns the Universe. Asking God to do less than He is capable of seems to me to be an insult. God can and will say no if His plan and Glory are not being increased. Asking for the best outcome shows our Faith, let God decide His answer and we will accept it, but never fail to ask.

Jesus even asked for the cup (crucifixion) to be taken from Him, and yet He knew that cup was why He was here in the first place, but He still asked because He knew the Father heard Him and could have done anything to save Him from that cup, to me that prayer in the garden is really how Jesus taught us to pray. Ask for what you want/need after all, thanks to Jesus we have been given the grace to talk to the Creator of the Universe, it's an immense privilege, let's not forget who we are praying to and this book brings that home.

This book increased my Faith and I've never prayed the way I used to before reading it. Highly recommended, read it more than once.
  • Ordered it because I knew of some others who had read it and recommended it. Cannot say I am a fan. Although Batterson says that this is not prosperity gospel, I fail to see the difference between what he says and the message of the prosperity gospel proponents.
Very little Scripture, and what is used is often pulled out of context.
  • My Pastor in Columbus, Ohio recommend our church read this book during a 40 day fast leading into Easter. I read the book at my leisure, since it was not broken down into a 40 day reading plan. However, I read the pages and REFLECTED. Then prayed. I was excited everytime I turned a page. I love how the author stuck to Biblical truth about God. This is not a genie in a bottle recipe. This book is a to remind you how to connect and align with the ONE God who knows it all and owns it all.

This is likely the longest review I have written on . I literally watched my prayer circles that I wrote down and prayed over come to past. And others I am sure God will reveal in His time. I have heard pastors preach about "yes". "no". and "maybe" answers to prayer. This book is a message that calls you to spend more time with God so your prayers are directed to uplifting the kingdom. Those prayers seem to lead more to "right prayer" going up with "right attitude" and "right expectations" once the answers arrive.

I will refrain from listing the major changes I have seen in my life this year (and still 6 months left in 2018). It is evident barriers and bondage was broke as prayer were asked and answered. Okay, I have said enough. Buy the book and more importantly TRUST God.

    Romans 10 9-10 (-

Two Years in the Klondike and Alaskan Gold Fields 18961898 A Thrilling Narrative of Life in the Gold Mines and Camps William B Haskell eBook Reviews

  • This is a wonderfully exciting narrative, written and published more than a century ago by a Klondike prospector who'd "been there, done that." It was probably not transcribed directly from a diary, but was certainly written soon after events, while memories were still fresh. The author briefly prospected for gold in the Cripple Creek mountains of Colorado, following which he and his partner joined the mad stampede and hazardous trek over Chilkoot Pass, thence down the Yukon River to the Klondike gold field. The original publication was seemingly scanned using optical character recognition, resulting in occasional typographical errors, which are easy to ignore. The author writes in a highly literate manner, and the text is very well edited. The story comes across as interesting and as exciting as the best fictional portrayal of that era (i.e., James Michener's "Alaska" and others)--and is a good example of truth at times being stranger than fiction. This book will be of serious interest to the historian, and is also an exciting page-turner. Highly recommended!
  • Written as a diary of his life and his two years in the Yukon. Makes you feel as if you were there with him. Many technical details and stories of others who were there. Removes the hype and unrealistic romance of the Klondike gold rush. A must read for anyone going to Alaska or the Canadian Northwest Territories. Makes one realize that no matter how much technological change we've had since the 1890's, people haven't really changed. The Stars TV mini-series did not use much from Haskell' s book except his name. Too bad since his real story would have been much more interesting.
  • With great depth of detail, the author describes the hazards and difficulties endured by those who sought to strike it rich during a two year segment of the Alaskan gold rush .
  • I purchased this book for my dad who loves to read about gold rushes of any kind. I couldn't pry this book out of his hands. He said he felt like he was living through through the Klondike. While I did not read the book, I did skim through the preface, written by a history professor at University of Alaska. If you read the book, I would recommend the preface as it gives some background information relative to the period and genre of book. I would have liked to know more about how the book was received after it was published--was it a best seller at the time (1898), what happened to William Haskel?
  • Well written by an educated man. First hand account of travel in Alaska at turn of the century. Good advice on gold prospecting.
  • I was fascinated by the Klondike mini-series and had to find more about the true story.
Would YOU have gone to the Klondike searching for gold?
It really makes you wonder what would my choice have been. Most of the worlds people were still farmers
then. Electric lights were a brand new invention. Immerse yourself in the turn of the 18th century with this
book and wonder. What would I have done?
  • Great book !! so well written and full of actual information about a fascinating time in Alaskan history. If you enjoy books showing man's determination to succeed against all odds this is a book to read.
  • This is a great story of Alaska and all true to boot, tells of the problems of looking for gold in the Klondike at the turn of the 1900s.
